What this is
This Is a Journal is an independent collection of essays about the darker, stranger, and often uncomfortable parts of American life.
The writing is personal, opinionated, and intentionally direct. It approaches culture, work, identity, politics, and everyday life through the eyes of one damaged, intelligent, middle-aged American man.
This is not a newspaper, an institution, or an attempt at perfect neutrality. It is a journal: a record of what one person notices, questions, remembers, and cannot quite let go.
A note to readers
Some essays may contain strong opinions, adult language, or uncomfortable subject matter. Read critically. Disagree freely. If this is not for you, that is all right.
